I am fascinated with people – emotions, connections, desires. Ever since I can remember I have always been sketching people – especially women and children. Nowadays my works are more symbolic. I like to turn to nature to express the everyday experiences by allegories.
When the sensations, light and colours fuse together, my emotions connect with them and I use paints to share the passion, the story in my picture. Sometimes the emotions are like an enlightenment and the tableau is complete in seconds – ready to be poured on canvas. Sometimes the idea, impressions have to ripen and take shape, before they are ready to be shared. The audience is free to interpret what the piece of art means to them. Everyone’s impressions are drawn from internal experiences and memories that are related to the picture.I want the viewer to stop and feel a connection to the subject, range of emotions, sentiments and reflected memories.
My work is still evolving as I am. Embracing the life, the changes it brings – marriage, divorce, move to Australia from Poland, birth of my children, immersing in new culture, language, sceneries – all of it is reflected in my art. My aspiration is to challenge and inspire my audience, inflame new thoughts, touch raw emotions. |
