ARTIST NOTES: The typical rusty farm gate...abandoned...attached to a decaying post by a piece of chain...obviously once designed to restrict entry to the farming property. Dry grasses and weeds entangle their stalks amid the fine wire mesh on the gate. Thick textured areas throughout the composition create interest. The foreground washes create an element of mystery and lead the viewer's eye into the frame.

ARTIST BIO Susan Longbottom: Born 18/247 Freeling SA Trained at Western  Teachers College & SA School of Art  and graduated as a secondary art teacher in 1968 Taught primary and secondary art for 30 years. Retired from teaching in 2002. Began painting own artworks and have won numerous awards in local SA art exhibitions. Mediums: Paint on canvas in both Acrylics  and Oils.
