Guntis Jansons

 Born   1946 Weisau, Germany. Latvian Parents                     Arrived in Australia in 1950.  Education  Completed schooling in Victoria to Leaving Cert. and  Matriculation English. Went on to complete a three-year                        Certificate of Art Course at R.M.I.T.(Royal Melbourne Institute of                        Technology). Studied Graphic Design.  Work         Started at the ABC Television Studios as a Graphic                     Designer. Worked in both Sydney and Melbourne                     Studios.           1972    Accepted position of junior Art Director at SPASM  1973  Moved on to Berrie Currie Advertising. Won Caxton Print advertising Award.  1974   Accepted an offer of Senior Art Director at J.Walter  1975    Thompson Advertising. Held first solo show of paintings at Hogarth Galleries Sydney. Clive Evatt-Director Went  to work for Hansen, Rubensohn, McCann, Erickson Held another painting Exhibition at Hogarth Galleries.  1980     Travelled extensively through Europe  and USA working and studying.  1983    Joined Lintas Advertising 1984    Joined USP Needham Sydney. 1987    Started own business freelancing. Continued working and Exhibiting in numerous shows around Australia. Member of  ALMA (Latvian Artists Association) Prizes include Herald Outdoor Artshow winner. Balmain                     Contemporary award , Fairfield Traditional Prize. 1990      Moved to country to start Flower Farm. Continuing to paint and exhibit portraits,still life's, and landscapes. 1999    Two man show at Latvian Cultural Centre-Sydney 2002    First Prize -Traditional section- Fairfield City Festival Second Prize- Contemporary Section- Fairfield Arts Alive Represented in publication-Latvian Artists in Australia. 2003              First Prize-Scone Art Show- Banool Conservation Prize 2003               Second Prize-Traditional Section- Fairfield Festival of Arts 2004              Third Prize Royal Canberra Art Show- Oils Section 2004               Second Prize- Sydney Royal Show- Still Life Section 2004              Merit Award- Cowra Regional Gallery Show. 2004              Second Prize- Open Section- Cessnock Art Society Show 2004              Highly Commended- Fairfield City Art Show- Open Section 2005              First Prize- Royal Canberra Show- Oils Painting Section 2005              Second Prize- Contemporary – Fairfield City Art Show 2005              Highly Commended- ‘Art in the Vines’ Exhibition at Broke 2006              First Prize- Fairfield City ‘Traditional Art Prize’ 2006              Second Prize- Fairfield City Art Show – Contemporary Section 2006              First Prize- Cootamundra Art Festival- Open Art Prize 2006              Highly Commended- Art in the Vines – Broke Art Show 2006              Highly Commended- Traditional Section- Fairfield City Art Show 2007              Second Prize- Winmallee Art Festival – Open section
