ARTIST BIO

As a child I fell in love with colouring books, not to colour but make the pictures bigger and better, some of my drawings turned out rather large. After having children I was able to keep my drawing going much to our children’s delight.

In the late 1980’s while doing one of our first quotes for our furniture removal business I met a lady who painted with pastels, the colours seemed to be so alive and vibrant and I knew that this was something I would love to be able to do one day. It was still to be many years before I got the chance to start painting in my desired medium.

Years later I took a watercolour landscape class thinking this could help me on my way to pastels. This turned out to be a total disaster and it was suggested to me by my instructor maybe I should try a different medium, to be quite honest he was right.

In the year 2001 my husband John bought me a full set of Rembrandt pastels for my 40th birthday.  That was it; all I wanted to do was paint. My horses firstly then moving onto landscape, outback Australia (just love the wide open places and all that red dust), waterscape also took my fancy; I have dabbled in portraiture but have not found this as full filling. Some of those stockmen and women we have met do have very interesting faces. I have found much pleasure in the painting of old and derelict buildings and cars. One of my first commissioned works (commissioned by my two grandsons aged then 6 and 8) was a rather large Blue Tongue Lizard with much hard work and great success this painting hangs pride of place in their home, I might add that I was paid in as many kisses and hugs as I want from now to eternity.
